Flood takes over Asaba after three-hour very heavy rain fall

Several roads in Asaba, Delta State capital were submerged in flood following torrential rains on Sunday night. The floods rendered the roads impassable for most hours of yesterday.
Although, residential apartments and office buildings were not completely submerged, it was observed that some people were bailing water from their houses when our correspondent monitored the situation.

Worst hit are flood-prone areas of Okpanam Road, Inter-Bau/Summit Roundabout, DSS/Court roads, Jesus Saves Road, Mariam Babangida way and DLA/Ibusa roads.
Residents of the capital city were jolted by the flood particularly as some of them could not access their offices. Most workers stayed away from work in areas well-known for excessive and perennial flooding.

Some of the popular offices flooded include the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) office complex, Women Affairs Primary School as well as some private business offices on Okpanam Road that also houses many public offices and banks.

Our correspondent also observed that many children could not go to school in Asaba on Monday as their parents would not let them owing to the heavy downpour.
