Niger Delta Militants group early hours of today Blew Up Chevron Oil Well

The major Niger Delta Militants group in Nigeria, the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) in the early hours of today, Sunday, June, 3, 2016, blew up Chevron’s oil wells in Delta State.  The heavily armed militants carried out the act at exactly 1:15am. The two affected oil wells were the well 7 and well 8 close to Abiteye flow station in Delta state which belongs to Chevron.

Recall the Federal Government had agreed a 30-day cease fire with the Militants from the Niger Delta in order to create room for negotiations but with the recent attack by the Avengers, it seems a deal might not have been struck with the Federal Government.

Confirming the attack via its Twitter handle @NDAvengers, the group wrote: “At 1:15am on Sunday @NDAvengers blow up two major Chevron Oil Wells. WELL 7 and WELL 8 close to Abiteye flow station in Delta state”.

The Avengers also claimed to have destroyed NPDC major crude trunk lines close to Batan flowstation in Delta state on Saturday.

Confirming the attack, the Avengers wrote on Twitter : “At 11:26pm on Saturday @NDAvengers blow up two NPDC major crude trunk lines close to Batan flowstation in Delta state”.

The group who are demanding for a sovereign state also claimed it blew up the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Crude Oil Trunk Line to Warri Refinery on .

Confirming the attack, the heavily armed militants wrote: “At 9:15pm on Friday the @NDAvengers blow up Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Crude Oil Trunk Line to Warri Refinery”.

However with the renewed attacks on various pipelines and oil wells in the Niger Delta region by the Niger Delta Avengers and other Militant Groups, it calls for questioning if the planned negotiation between the Militants and the Federal government will see the light of the day.
