Umar Jibrilla Bindow: Unpaid Salary Arrears Inherited From Past Administrations
Adamawa State governor, Senator Muhammadu Umar Jibrilla Bindow has stated that the backlog of unpaid salary arears were inherited from past administrations in the state. The governor made remark, Tuesday, at the opening ceremony of the first Education Summit in the state.

According to Bindow, his administration is fully committed to ensuring prompt payment of salaries but the lack of funds necessitated by the dwindling national economy has been a hindrance. The governor then assured that education is a priority for his government and urged the participants to discuss sincerely and proffer solutions to the challenges of education in the state.


In his remark, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Umar Bindir identified the problems of the education sector to poor governance from the past administrations. He reiterated Governor Bindow’s devotion in proffering solutions to the problem of education and thereby enhancing positive results in developing the sector.

On her part, the commissioner for education, Prof Kaletapwa George said the state of emergency declared in the education is a clear statement of Bindow’s willingness to turn around the fortunes of education in the state.

The lead speaker at the Summit, Prof Ndagana called on the government to take care of teachers and ensure that their salaries are paid as at when due. He emphasised that the teachers cannot be satisfactorily paid because of the magnitude of their contribution to the growth and development of the society.

Participants at the Summit include principals of both private and public schools, parents, proprietors among others.
