Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated the Squirrels of Benin Republic by 2-0 in Kano

Nigeria Home-Base Super Eagles today defeated the Squirrels of Benin Republic by 2-0 in Kano to book a space in the 2018 CHAN to be held in Kenya.
The Eagles who have earlier been defeated by 1-0 in the first leg of the encounter in Cotonou with a late penalty, overturned the defeat by 2-1 on aggregate.

Nigeria took the lead in the 22nd minute after Kano Pillars Rabiu Ali knocks in Alhassan Ibrahim pass, while the second goal came after the break,47' when Kingsley Eduwo of Lobi Stars flings himself at Okoro's cross to nod pass the Squirrels goalkeeper.

In the 63rd minute, the Squirrels were awarded a penalty by referee Esono after he ruled that Stephen Eze blocked goal bound effort with his hand, but goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa of FC IfeanyiUbah dive in the right direction to safe the spot kick by Seibou. With the win, it means the Super Eagles will make a third straight appearance at the CHAN tournament, having previously participated at the 2014 and 2016 editions in South Africa and Rwanda respectively.
