Nigeria narrowly defeat Cote d’Ivore by 78-77 in Afrobasket

D’Tigers of Nigeria narrowly defeated the Les Éléphants of Cote D’Ivore by 78-77 in there opening game of the ongoing 2017 Men’s FIBA Africa Championship in Tunisia.
Defending Champions D’Tigers started on an impressive note leading the first quarter by 17-11 point, and 25-22 in the second quarter to end the first half with 42-33 point.
But things change in the third quarter when the Les Éléphants outplayed the D’Tigers and controlled the game, ending the quarter with 11-17 point.
And in the last quarter, it was a great escape for the defending champions who were stretched to lose the quarter by 25-27 points and ended the game with a narrow 78-77 points win.
With the win, Nigeria now have 2 points while the Ivorian have 1 point.
Ike Diogu, D’Tigers Power Forward finished with 31 points and 7 rebounds while Point Guard Ikenna Iroegbu had 13 point and 7 assist.
Nigeria next game will be against Mali, today by 8:30pm.
