No hope for Cameroon-Hugo Broos

Coach Hugo Broos has said that Cameroon's hopes of qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup are all but over after the team's recent defeat to Nigeria in a qualifier on Friday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

The Super Eagles thrashed the Indomitable Lions 4-0 thanks to goals from Odion Ighalo, John Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and Kelechi Iheanacho to consolidate their lead in Group B with nine points.

Both sides will trade tackles on Monday, September 4 in Yaoundé in the second leg qualifier but Broos have conceded that his men will only play for pride. .
"There is no pressure anymore on Monday, Nigeria have nine points, we have two points," Broos is quoted saying on BBC .
"But there is only an honour to defend, there is no importance to this. I just hope my players will have the same mentality that I have - that they will fight on Monday till the last minute - to beat Nigeria. .
"If we had won this game, we would have a chance, but we lost it and I hope everyone will learn from this. .
"Why should we have a chance to the World Cup? We need to win all three games and Nigeria have to lose all three games, I don't think that will happen," he ended.

Cameroon are the current African champions and they have competed at seven FIFA World Cup finals, their best outing was at the 1990 edition where they got to the quarterfinals.
